Lessons learned from Tiger Woods on how to run with horses : 

1 . Guided,  led & motivated to the goal (HE HEARD GOD JER 1:4-9)

2 . inner change , not outward appearances (AMEND your WAYS NOT JUST TEMPLE - Jer 7:1-4)

3 . Persistent obedience (CLAY IN THE POTTER HANDS) JER 18:1-6

Background of Jeremiah : 

• Lived through the reigns of the last 7 kings of Judah 

• Ministry lasted 40 years 

• Witnessed the overthrow of Jerusalem 

• Was forced to leave Israel for Egypt, against his will 

The Call of Jeremiah

4 The word of the Lord came to me, saying, 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew[a] you before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”6 “Alas, Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.”7 But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord. 9 Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “I have put my words in your mouth

God gave him 2 visions : 

1 . Branch of an almond tree 

God is watching to see that His Word is fulfilled 

In Heb , watching sounds like almond tree 

2 . Boiling pot facing away from north 

God was going to bring judgment upon ſudah from the north 

False Religion Worthless

7 This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: 2 “Stand at the gate of the Lord’s house and there proclaim this message:

“‘Hear the word of the Lord, all you people of Judah who come through these gates to worship the Lord. 3 This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Reform your ways and your actions, and I will let you live in this place. 4 Do not trust in deceptive words and say, “This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord!”

NEED CHANGE OF HEART, inner change not outward change.

The Potter and the Clay

18 The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying: 2 “Arise and go down to the potter’s house, and there I will cause you to hear My words.” 3 Then I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was, making something at the [a]wheel. (GOING ROUND & ROUND....NO RESULT BUT GOD IS DOING SOMETHING INSIDE LIKE PRACTISING PRACTISING IE PERSISTENCE OBEDIENCE) 4 And the vessel that he [b]made of clay was [c]marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to make.

5 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: 6 “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?” says the Lord. “Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel
