Pastor fergus wife 31/10/21 authentic

BARRIERS TO AN AUTHENTIC SELF

Lack of self awareness                                                     Emotional stuntedness                                                    Inability to face our wounds

We’ve been conditioned to:

• minimise

• rationalise

• intellectualise

• avoid

• suppress

• deny                                                                                    our hurts & disappointments

CONSEQUENCES OF INAUTHENTIC SELF?

Numbness

Blocked access to God

SOLUTION

Turn towards your pain. Know that Jesus does not despise or reject us

Lord, help us embrace our pain in honesty before You

AUTHENTIC                                                                                         1. AUTHENTIC TO ONE ANOTHER                                               2. AUTHENTIC TO YOURSELF                                              3. AUTHENTIC LOVE IS THE GOAL

1 John 4: 20-21

20 If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot[a] love God whom he has not seen. 21 And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.

John 13: 34-35

34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Psalm 51: 6 & 17

6 Surely you desire truth in the inner parts … 17a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.

Jeremiah 6: 13-14 (NIV)

13 “From the least to the greatest,
    all are greedy for gain;
prophets and priests alike,
    all practice deceit.
14 They dress the wound of my people
as though it were not serious.
‘Peace, peace,’ they say,
    when there is no peace.

SIBKL leader adv 18/10/21

2022 theme: Take the future: Move forward

MOVING TO THE TIME OF TRANSITION & TRANSFORMATION

THE PERSPECTIVE:

Crossing over implies 2 movements - 1) leaving behind, 2) moving fwd

let not the pass bind us but enboldened us

THE PNEUMA: THE Presence (The ark of the covenant)

must be the center (exodus 33:15) “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.

3 postures:

1) FAITH a) in God & b) in the leadership

2)TRUST in the process

3) UNITY

Consecration - celebration - we must be:-connection - communication

1) engaging

2) relevant

3) borderless

SAVING THE LOST, THE BROKEN, THOSE LIVING IN DARKNESS IS THE MAIN CONCERN

 HEBREWS 12:26-29

26 At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.”[a] 27 The words “once more” indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain.(DO NOT BE SHAKEN!) FOCUS ON WHAT THE LORD WANTED TO SAY TO US...

28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, 29 for our “God is a consuming fire.”[b]

HOW TO REACH OUT TO THE LOST?

KEY TO THE FUTURE IS FAITH.

HOW? WHAT WAY..

JOSHUA CROSS FROM JORDAN RIVER..TO PROMISED LAND

OLD SEASON FROM MOSES TO JOSHUA SEASON TO POSSESS THE PROMISED LAND.

GROWING FAITH to know Him better.

the Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. No hostility but understanding.

Ephesians 1:17-20

17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit[a] of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. 18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms,

TRUSTING FAITH to obey. Follow n obey Him implicitly. if doesnt understand. Roman 11:33-34

Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and[a] knowledge of God!

    How unsearchable his judgments,
and his paths beyond tracing out!
34 “Who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has been his counselor?”

Moses and the Glory of the Lord

12 Moses said to the Lord, “You have been telling me, ‘Lead these people,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You have said, ‘I know you by name and you have found favor with me.’ 13 If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways (WAYS OF GOD, HIGHER THAN OURS, & HIS THOTS, ALL WISE..TO SEE HIS WISDOM TO UNDERSTAND HIM, KEEP OBEYING, FOLLOWING..) so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.”

TESTED FAITH to follow & mature

transition is stormy. james 1:2-4

Trials and Temptations

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

SURRENDER FAITH - no matter what i will serve Him.

Daniel 3:16-18

16 Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to him, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us[a] from Your Majesty’s hand. 18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”

FAITH IN ONE ANOTHER

Jer.17 Verses 7 to 8

[7] Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.
[8] For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruits

Joshua 3:1-9

Crossing the Jordan

Early in the morning Joshua and all the Israelites set out from Shittim and went to the Jordan, where they camped before crossing over. After three days the officers went throughout the camp, giving orders to the people: “When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the Levitical priests carrying it, you are to move out from your positions and follow it. Then you will know which way to go, since you have never been this way before. But keep a distance of about two thousand cubits[a] between you and the ark; do not go near it (TRUST THE PROCESS).”

Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.”

Joshua said to the priests, “Take up the ark of the covenant and pass on ahead of the people.” So they took it up and went ahead of them.

And the Lord said to Joshua, “Today I will begin to exalt you in the eyes of all Israel, so they may know that I am with you as I was with Moses. Tell the priests who carry the ark of the covenant: (TRUST THE LEADERSHIP WHEN MOVE FORWARD) When you reach the edge of the Jordan’s waters, go and stand in the river.’”

Joshua said to the Israelites, “Come here and listen to the words of the Lord your God.

Eph 6:10-18 Whole armor of God
The Armor of God
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
Battle = of believing!! victory lays surrendering to God. Faith is at the highest when u just stand! Be still & know I am God.
