Luke 19:1-10 New International Version (NIV)

Zacchaeus the Tax Collector

19 (area 1- at tree) Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. 2 A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus - cheater ; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. 3 He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.

5 When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.”6 So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.

7 All the people  - 3 grps 

1) Pharisee - time to catch Jesus,which ppl don’t like Zac. Seen zac response, they seen loss of opportunity to catch Jesus!

2) crowd - always follow jesus bcoz desire something fr Jesus, hoping Jesus minister to them, or gv blessings, how come Jesus gv attn to zac n not them? “Upset, agitated” & murmur.. “angry”

- seen zac response, disappear as zac must been brainwash to give $, some waiting fr claim. Can’t see the transform life / Jesus was with him.

3) zac’s friends - saw their boss climbing a tree...🤔..what’s he doing?? “Confused”, afraid of crowd. 

What happen to us?

When Jesus has a cafe which someone we hate. 

Suddenly, miracle! He gives away his possession. 

1) all of us hv filters, “to be removed”, so that we can recognise him for who he is.

2) we r doing something we r not suppose to do, we change n transform.

3) when zac life turn ard, all the others need also met. Zac give bck 4x.

this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.”

8 But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord,“Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”- fr a man who love $ transformed bcoz Jesus in d house. Dine w Zac. Why? The presence of God is with him!

9 Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

When read the Word, put ourselves in their position.
